On October 24, registration and weigh-ins took place at the Rimi Olympic Center (Rimi Olimpiskās Centrs). Our fighters made weight successfully:
- Mateo Gavilanes – 76 kg
- Azzdine Gaffa – 71 kg
The draw was very favorable, and both athletes advanced directly to the finals.
Azzdine Gaffa faced Chekhutskiy Ivan (Lithuania), while Mateo Gavilanes fought Tumasevics Illa, a Ukrainian-born fighter representing Latvia.
On October 25, the athletes and coaching staff spent the day resting, recovering, and reviewing tactical strategies.
October 26 (Finals):
- In fight No. 9, from the blue corner, Azzdine won in the third round by T.K.O.
- In fight No. 11, from the red corner, Mateo won by points after a very exciting bout.
I am very proud of my fighters – they showed excellent technical and physical preparation.
They controlled the pace and took the offensive, limiting their opponents’ tactics and forcing them into defense.
There is still much to improve, but I know that the experience gained in these fights will bear fruit in the next events, which will take place soon, in Lithuania, on November 21–22, 2025.
